SCOTTSBURG — In partnership with HWC Engineering, the Indiana Department of Transportation will host a public information meeting for a two-way left-turn lane project on U.S. 31 in Scottsburg on Wednesday, September 22, at Mid-America Science Park (821 S. Lake Road, Scottsburg, IN).
The meeting will provide an opportunity for the public to learn more about the project, ask questions, and provide comments to the project team.
As proposed, the just over $1 million project includes reconfiguring U.S. 31 from two lanes in each direction to one lane in each direction with a middle two-way left-turn lane between S.R. 56 and York Street. The project aims to enhance safety, improve traffic flow, and reduce rear-end crash frequency. Construction is anticipated to be completed under traffic shifts and lane closures with an estimated start in the spring of 2022.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. to allow the public to view displays and interact with project personnel before the meeting. A formal presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. A video presentation will also be posted on the INDOT website prior to September 22 and can be viewed at any time.
Questions and comments may be submitted in-person at the information meeting or via email to Paul Lincks (plincks@hwcengineering.com) or Lewie Allen (lallen@hwcengineering.com) with HWC Engineering. All comments are requested by end of business the following Wednesday, September 29.
Face coverings and social distancing will be encouraged at the meeting. Hand-sanitization stations and handwashing facilities will be available.
