MITCHELL – The Mitchell Community School Board met Monday night to discuss new hires and updates to the school corporation.
The School announced the hiring of a new Varsity Head Football Coach following the resignation of Coach Troy Pritchett, by naming Kevin Kling as the next coach for the Blue Jackets.
Coach Kling has 20 years of coaching experience and hopes to bring a blue-collar attitude to the football program for the upcoming season.
“This is a blue-collar town with a blue-collar mentality, so we are going to play blue-collar football,” said Kling. “We are going to build our brand around the kids we have and the abilities they have to put the best brand of football we can on the field.”

Attorney Greg Pittman announced the single bid received to sell the school corporation-owned properties in Huron from James Carpenter for a total of $332,000 and was accepted by the board.
MCS Superintendent Dr. Brent Comer shared the progress for the capital projects. With the winter weather remaining in effect for the next couple of weeks, the progress has stopped for now. But as the temperatures begin to rise, the work will continue on the field house and “the Hive” and move forward to completion.
The board also approved an amendment to bus route #8 to assist a student who is living in the foster care system. This amendment would allow the bus to drive additional miles to pick the student up, so they can continue to attend their classes at the school.
