Motorcyclist collides with a deer in Marshall County and is injured

MARSHALL CO. – A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries after colliding with a deer early this morning in Marshall County.

Troopers responded to a crash involving a motorcyclist and a deer on Nutmeg Road at approximately 5:40 a.m. this morning, April 30, 2024. 

Trooper Rodd Schuh’s preliminary investigation indicates that Michael Reece, 71, of Culver, IN, was riding a green and black 1997 Harley Davidson southbound on Nutmeg Road, just north of 16th Road, when he collided with a deer. Reece lost control of the motorcycle after this collision and slid before coming to rest. 

Argos EMS transported Reece to a waiting Samaritan helicopter to a hospital in Ft. Wayne, IN.  Reece suffered injuries that are considered serious but not life-threatening. 

Reece was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
