Two Hanover residents arrested for battery on a 5 month old infant

HANOVER, IN- On Tuesday, June 11, 2024, the parents of a five-month-old infant were arrested after an investigation into injuries the child sustained while in the parents’ care.

The investigation began on May 15, 2024, when Indiana State Police Investigators responded to Norton Children’s Hospital, Louisville, Kentucky, after the female child was transported to the hospital from Jefferson County, Indiana, with suspicious injuries.

The initial investigation indicated that the child was allegedly in the custody of the mother, Makayla B. Turner, age 24, and father, Skyler Hoffman-Jenkins, age 28, both of Hanover, Indiana, at the time when the child suffered the injuries.

After the investigation, the case was presented to the Jefferson County Prosecutor’s Office, which resulted in warrants being issued for both parents for six felony counts, each on charges related to battery on a child under the age of 14 with bodily injury and neglect of a dependent.

Both suspects were arrested this week without incident and transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where they were incarcerated pending their initial court appearances.

The Indiana Department of Child Services and Norton Children’s Hospital assisted in the investigation.
