BEDFORD – Tanarra Fargo, of Oolitic, was sentenced to ten years in prison after she pleaded guilty to dealing meth in Lawrence County.
Fargo pleaded guilty to dealing meth and was sentenced by Lawrence County Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline to 12 years in prison. She was given credit for 100 days and suspended two years of her sentence. A charge of possession of meth over 28 grams was dismissed as part of a plea deal.
Upon successful completion of the clinically appropriate substance abuse treatment program, as determined by the Department of Corrections, Judge Cline will consider a modification to this sentence but not until after Fargo serves five years of her sentence.
Lawrence County Prosecutor Sam Arp presented the case against Fargo, which was represented by the Lawrence County Public Defenders Office.
In January 2024, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department received information that 31-year-old Fargo was involved in trafficking and dealing large amounts of methamphetamine in Lawrence County.
Officers from the Sheriff’s Office, including Narcotics Detective Chris Griggs, along with Indiana State Police DES detectives, launched an investigation into Fargo’s activities. The Bedford Police Department also assisted at various points of the investigation.
On the evening of Thursday, February 8th, investigators had information that Fargo was traveling to Indianapolis to buy a large amount of methamphetamine to bring back and sell in Lawrence County. On Friday, February 9, 2024, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Fargo was observed driving her 2011 Hyundai south on Old 37 near Judah. Deputies Brenten Trueblood and Kenton Carter conducted a traffic stop.
During the stop, Deputy Josh Rhoades arrived and deployed his canine, Dusty, who gave a positive alert on the vehicle. Deputy Clifford Pruett also assisted.
Fargo was found to have approximately 116 grams (1/4 pound) of methamphetamine. She was arrested for dealing methamphetamine over 10 grams, a Level 2 felony, and possession of methamphetamine over 28 grams, a Level 3 felony.
