Join the fun festivities Saturday at the Limestone Heritage Festival

BEDFORD – On Saturday, June 29th, downtown Bedford will be bustling with significant events.

At 8 a.m. on the big day, you can attend a free pancake breakfast at the Bedford Masonic Lodge from 8 AM to 11 p.m. While the breakfast is free, donations are welcomed and appreciated. Afterward, you can shop for delicious produce and other market products at the Bedford Farmers Market, which operates from 8 a.m. until noon. The farmers market will be located on the east side of the courthouse.

Saturday’s attractions, food, and entertainment lineup will offer something for everyone.

The Limestone Carving Exhibit and the photography contest open at 9 a.m. and last until late in the afternoon. At the Limestone Carving Exhibit, you can observe carving demonstrations, vote for your favorite carving, and enter into a raffle to win a birdbath. There is an adult and youth photography division at the photography contest, with the adult winner earning a $100 cash prize and the youth winner receiving a $50 cash prize.

A Chalk Walk will take place on the sidewalk of I Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Artists will have a square of sidewalk to draw on, which is free to participate in. Select winners will receive a $25 gift card to Glassy Studios.

The Bedford Masonic Lodge will also be hosting a hotdog eating contest at 4 p.m. Ten contestants will get to participate. The winner will receive a trophy and $100. All participants will receive an event T-shirt. Contestants must be 16 or older and a $10.00 entry fee applies.

There are also delicious lunch options. You can choose from over 15 vendors, including Jiffy Treet, 812 BBQ, Boady’s Shake-Ups, Cafe Blues Go, Speakeasy Pizza, and Brown Bag BBQ. To cool down from the summer heat, you can get some snow cones from Kona Ice, savory kettle corn from Busy B’z, and Tiger Ears from JJK Foodservice. These are just some of the wonderful options you have available to you!

Settle into the evening starting with the flag raising ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Bedford Mayor, Sam Craig, will recognize this year’s parade Grand Marshal, Jay Fiddler after the flag raising and National Anthem performance by JoAnna Kai Hackney. The Limestone Heritage Festival Parade will step off starting at 6 o’clock. Spectators will enjoy lively floats, go karts, antique cars and get candy from a Candy Cruiser at the beginning of the parade.

After the parade, experience the musical talents of the Dark Hollow Duo on the Harp Commons stage, followed by Cody Ikerd and the Sidewinders who will close out the evening leading up to the fireworks display at dusk.

Everything ends with a bang, so settle in with your family and friends, a lawn chair, and your favorite festival food or treat for an illuminating fireworks display at 10 p.m.
