Man sentenced to prison for not complying with probation terms

BEDFORD – Andrew M. Lee was placed on probation on June 22, 2023, for unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony. He was sentenced to 910 days with 746 days suspended. He was given 164 days credit for time served.

Lee was ordered to serve 545 days on supervised probation upon his release.

His probation began on July 7, 2023. Lee was told to report to the Lawrence County Probation Department on July 17, 2023, at 10 a.m., but he failed to report.

Lee was again to report to probation and remain in contact with his probation officer on September 26, 2023, at 11 a.m.

Lee failed to complete his community service hours and pay any fees related to his probation.

A warrant was issued for Lee’s arrest after failing to comply with probation and court orders.

Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline sentenced Lee to 740 days in the Department of Corrections. Lee was given credit for five days served.

Lee was arrested on Sunday, April 2, 2023, around 3:40 p.m. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Brenten Trueblood conducted a traffic stop along State Road 37 and John Williams Boulevard.

Officer Trueblood detected indicators of criminal activity and discovered that the male passenger, Andrew Lee, then 44, of Greencastle, was wanted on an active parole violation warrant. Lee was detained.

Oolitic Town Marshal James Harrington assisted by deploying his canine Deny Joe, who gave a positive alert on the vehicle. A search revealed that Lee had a used hypodermic syringe, a small amount of heroin, and other drug paraphernalia.

Lee was arrested on the outstanding warrant and possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a syringe, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
