Week-long saturation patrol results in 70 arrests on 136 criminal charges

NORTH CENTRAL INDIANA – From June 14th to June 20th, the Indiana State Police, in collaboration with the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Wabash County Sheriff’s Office, Kokomo Police Department, and Rochester Police Department, conducted a highly effective week-long saturation patrol. This concerted effort was aimed at enforcing traffic laws, stemming the flow of illegal narcotics into Hoosier communities, and targeting aggressive, distracted, and impaired drivers.

The following results are a snapshot of the overall productivity of the coordinated patrol:

  • – 70 criminal arrests on 136 primarily drug-related charges
  • – 19 felony charges
  • – 105 misdemeanor charges
  • – 124 traffic citations issued
  • – 322 written warnings
  • – 12 arrests for driving while impaired
  • – 2 crashes worked
  • – 12 calls for service

Throughout the patrol, officers confiscated an array of illegal substances, including cocaine, LSD, methamphetamine, heroin, marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, edible marijuana products, MDMA, THC oil, ketamine, prescription medications, and drug paraphernalia.

The Indiana State Police remind all drivers to adhere to traffic laws for the safety of everyone on Indiana roadways. Summer is a peak travel season, and the increased volume of motorists requires heightened vigilance. This saturation patrol serves as a clear warning that law enforcement will utilize all resources at their disposal to apprehend those who transport illegal drugs or drive impaired. Officers also want to serve notice that as the summer temperatures increase, so will their vigilance in keeping illegal narcotics from reaching Hoosier communities.  

The Indiana State Police is committed to traffic safety and will continue to conduct saturation patrols to locate and apprehend impaired drivers. We want to remind the public to designate a sober driver or utilize ride-sharing companies.
