(BLOOMINGTON) - Authorities in Bloomington continue to look for the mother of a newborn baby boy who was abandoned outside a medical clinic.
Bloomington Police Department Captain Joe Qualters says the woman will not face criminal charges if investigators decide she acted under the spirit of Indiana's Safe Haven law, which allows people to hand over infants to heath or safety workers with no questions asked.
A custodian found the healthy seven pound baby on a towel outside Promptcare. A nearby note indicated his mother was unable to care for him. The BPD has received several tips about the mother's identity. Qualters says the baby has been assigned to a foster family.
