(BEDFORD) - The first Lawrence County Commissioners Meeting of 2007 was held yesterday with several issues before the board.
Pam Friends with Pen Products spoke to the board about their services to help with both the sheriff's and highway departments. Friends said her company can help the Sheriff's Department with programs for inmates who leave from their jail term. Plus, it was noted that Pen Products can produce street signs for the county with a turnaround of about a day.
Meanwhile, Andrew Farmer spoke to the council about giving his road, Natures Bloom Road, to the county. The board approved the transfer.
And Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig updated the board on a list of problems he has found within the Sheriff's Department. Craig presented the board with a check from the Indiana Department of Corrections for over $27,000. Craig also signed a compensation agreement outlining his duties as sheriff.
