(BEDFORD) - Since 1975, almost a thousand elementary and middle school students have tried to become winners in 1340 AM WBIW’s Spelling Bee.
Winners have advanced to the Regional Spelling Bee in Louisville, Kentucky for a chance at the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.
This Monday, 1340 AM WBIW will once again host the Spelling Bee live beginning at 4:30PM. Students from area elementary schools, in grades 4 through 6, will try for their chance to win. The winner will go on to participate with the 7th and 8th graders on Tuesday, February 20th.
The winner in Tuesday's contest will then go to Louisville on Saturday, March 17th in the Kentucky Derby Regional Spelling Bee at Churchill Downs. Students from 96 counties in Indiana and Kentucky will compete in the regional competition.
