(COLUMBUS) - A Columbus North high school student has turned a curiosity into a learning experience for the entire city.
Katie Logan has been studying the Vietnam War and noticing parallels between it and the ongoing conflict in Iraq. Logan has organized a conference including experts on Middle Eastern policy which will take place Tuesday inside the school's auditorium.
Three sessions, which will be open to the public, will cover issues including the war itself, the conflict as it relates to Islamic fundamentalism and the role of religion in war. Social studies teachers at the school will attend with their classes. They'll hear speakers including Indiana University professor Zaineb Istrabadi, John Clark of the Sagamore Institute and a videotaped comment from Representative Mike Pence.
