(BEDFORD) - Officials at the America Red Cross in Kentucky and southern Indiana is making an appeal for blood donations.
The blood supply in the area has dropped below a 36-hour supply, with supplies of Type O blood at a 6-hour supply. River Valley Blood Region Chief Executive Officer Dr. Yen Hsueh says Type O blood is so low they are not able to send hospitals everything they are requesting.
Area residents will have a chance to give blood today to help build up the supply. A blood drive at the First Baptist Church at 1515 - 20th Street in Bedford will run from 1:00PM to 6:00PM. All eligible donors are needed, walk-in are welcome.
