(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Urban Enterprise Association held a public meeting on Thursday night at the Bedford Convention Center to allow residents a chance to see plans for the renovation of the 50-year-old Bedford Convention Center building on the Bedford square.
Steve Alexander of Prince Alexander Architects of Indianapolis showed his ideas to a crowd of about 30 people. His presentation shows how an entrance in the back of the building could tie in with the Lawrence County History Museum. Adding a gazebo area next to "I" Street was presented as well.
Several people commented on how they are in favor of upgrading the facility for public use. An indication of the popularity of the center is seen by the number of rental dates scheduled for 2007. A count shows nearly 25 dates have been set including wedding receptions, the Lawrence County Museum's "Brain Games" and political gatherings including "Meet the Candidates" night.
A second public meeting will be held at a later date for those who missed Thursday night's meeting.
