(BEDFORD) - Officials with the Hoosier National Forest will be conducting a prescribed fire north of Bedford starting at 11:00AM this morning.
The prescribed fire will involve about 1300 acres south of the Maumee Boy Scout Camp. Area residents will notice smoke and should be aware of fire personnel and vehicles. The weather should be favorable for the burn, but residents are urged to use caution if traveling near the area.
Fire Management Officer Mike Davis says the public will not be allowed in the area of the burning. Signs will be posted and some roads will be closed for a short period. The fire area lies approximately 5 miles south of Elkinsville and 15 miles northeast of Bedford immediately south of the Maumee Boy Scout Camp.
