(BLOOMINGTON) - A Sunday walk in Bloomington brought the town together to address the problem of homelessness.
More than five hundred people participated on a sunny afternoon and raised in excess of $50,000 dollars. That cash will be distributed to 13 different agencies which serve the homeless in Monroe County.
Coordinators say they hope to raise $70,000 bucks once all the donations for the event stop trickling in.
The fundraiser was livened up by performers who dotted the parade route. The city of Bloomington's website estimates as many as two hundred people who live in the city have no permanent residence.
