(BEDFORD) - Bedford Urban Enterprise Association President Jamie Harris has been trying to find funding for the organization since the state ended their grant income several months ago.
Earlier in the year, Harris asked the city for a $25,000 loan to pull them through the first half of the year.
Harris was hoping that tax money would begin supplementing the association by June. But since the tax statements have yet to be mailed out Jamie has asked the city for another $25,000 advance.
After speaking at length with members of the Bedford Board of Works and Safety Monday, the board reluctantly decided to not give the BUEA the needed funds. They related to the fact that the city has the funds, but wanted to keep the surplus in case of unexpected expenses.
Harris had no comment as to what he plans to do to raise the necessary money.
