(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Salvation Army will be getting a new director.
Major Debra Wilson has been overseeing operations since last year. Wilson says she had asked for a transfer and then Chicago called.
Wilson says it will be a change for her. Wilson will be working as a nurse at the facility just two blocks from Lake Michigan.
Wilson will be going to school to further her education and hoping to return to Africa where she took care of children while there. Major Ralph and JoAnn Ashcraft will be transferring from Huntington to Bedford.
Wilson reflected on her time spent here in Bedford and said that she enjoyed the Taste Of Lawrence County sponsored by Lawrence County Untied Way, working with church groups, organizations and individuals manning the red kettles around Christmas time.
Wilson's last day will be June 24th.
