(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig has been looking for a new padded cell for the Lawrence County Security Center.
Since removing the old, and well used, padded cell, Craig says a new one is much needed due to liability issues.
Craig says he has talked with several companies to install a new unit. He has decided on a California company that will install a unit and offer a repair kit for the jail.
Craig says it will cost the county about $23,000. The Lawrence County Commissioners have given Craig $20,000 with the difference to be made up by the Sheriff's Department. Craig says the extra money will come from the commissary fund.
The new cell will be installed once the paperwork is completed.
