(MITCHELL) - Several weeks ago Lawrence County Economic Growth Council Director Gene McCraken personally handed over a letter of appreciation from the city of Mitchell to the Board of Directors of the Heidelberg Cement Company.
Heidelberg is the parent company of the Lehigh Cement Company that based in Mitchell.
Recently, a letter was received from Chairman of the Managing Board Dr. Bernd Scheifele. In the letter, Scheifele related to his visit in March and his interest in the construction of Hamilton Boulevard.
Mayor Butch Chastain says construction on the first phase of the new road will begin in late July or early August.
