(BEDFORD) - No pancakes were served, but about 3,000 gallons of molasses came gushing out of a tank owned by Flinn Farms Bedford Feed and Seed on 17th Street in Bedford, IN.
According to Brad Flinn, one of the two tanks holding the sticky substance burst open just right after the tanks were filled by a service truck.
The broken tank hit the side of the building, spilling the load over the parking lot.
The Bedford Fire Department was called to water down the molasses and to clean up the mess. Flinn says they lost about 6 tons of molasses in the accident.
Flinn also notes that they have been wanting to replace the tanks for some time, now he thinks they will.
It took about two hours to clean up the molasses used to sweeten feed for cows and other animals.
