(BLOOMFIELD) - Prosecutors have formally charged a mother with locking her infant daughter in a car trunk and then lying to police by saying the baby was missing.
21-year-old April Finch cried through most of her short court hearing. A judge entered a not guilty plea on her behalf on charges of neglect, confinement and false informing.
Finch was arrested Saturday, three days after the three-and-a-half-month-old girl was found by her stepfather in Jasonville, about 25 miles southeast of Terre Haute.
The baby was unharmed and is now under the care of the county's Department of Child Services.
