(BEDFORD) - A missed retirement payment for the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department in 2003 has the Lawrence County Council trying to figure out how to replace the omitted funds.
Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig says the annual reimbursement was somehow overlooked in 2003 and payments from that point have been one year in arrears.
According to McCready and Keene, the company who is managing the sheriff's retirement funds, says they need nearly $340,000 to bring to fund up-to-date. That is nearly 36% applied to the total payroll for all employees who are participating in the plan.
The Council will now attempt to iron out the differences and bring the plan to its proper level.
