(BEDFORD) - Rates to ride the TASC buses in Bedford will increase for the first time since the service was started in 1983.
Bedford Transit Director Myra Wilson says TASC officials have been contemplating the change for a couple of years. The main reason for the increase is the rising costs of fuel and operating expenses.
Rates will double across the board, except for a regular package of tokens. Ten tokens used to cost $6-dollars. The increase will change to $10-dollars. Wilson says she hopes seniors will take advantage of the tokens.
The new change will take place on August 1st if the Bedford City Council approves the change during their monthly meeting Tuesday night at the Bedford City Hall.
