(BEDFORD) - An accident Monday night on U.S. Hwy. 50 South of Bedford trapped a Mitchell man in his vehicle.
Police say 48-year-old Ricky Merry was traveling left of the highway's center line when two semis, one driven by Billie Little of New Albany, and another driven by Brian Romesburg of Lafayette, approached Merry from the opposite direction.
The truck drivers tried to swerve to the right side of the road but were hit by Merry's auto.
The Bedford Fire Department's extrication unit was called to remove Merry from his auto. Police say Merry was incoherent at the scene and was taken by ambulance to the Bedford Regional Medical Center Emergency Room.
Police believe Merry had a seizure just before the accident. Merry is known to have a history of seizures.
Little complained of hand and arm pain and was treated for his injures. Romesburg refused treatment at the scene.
All three drivers were given a blood test for alcohol and drugs and the results are pending.
Traffic was blocked for 2.5 hours after the accident. The Marion Volunteer Fire Department and Huron Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
