(BEDFORD) - A man walked away from an accident that could have been much worse for him.
Lawrence County Police say 33-year-old Cody East, of Bedford, was heading back home on Hwy. 37 yesterday afternoon. As he approached the Old Hwy. 37 and New Hwy. 37 intersection north of Bedford, East became sleepy and lost control of his truck.
The vehicle went off the road and over an embankment and then struck a traffic light support pole. The truck spun around, coming to rest near the post.
Police say East woke up shortly after hitting the pole. East suffered minor cuts, scrapes and bruises to his arm and knee and was treated and released from Dunn Memorial Hospital Emergency Room. East's truck was deemed a total loss.
The Indiana Department of Transportation was called in to repair the damages to the traffic boxes.
