(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington South High School has fired two extracurricular staffers over what the school system’s treasurer calls the apparent theft of funds.
A state board of accounts audit blasts the Monroe County Community Schools for sloppy bookkeeping, with 67 accounts overdrawn the last two years, including 11 extracurricular accounts at Bloomington South.
The audit says comptrollers apparently went months without making sure internal records and bank records were in sync.
The report also criticizes the school system for construction costs that ballooned more than 20-percent beyond the budget.
