(COLUMBUS) - A Columbus man is accused of stabbing a 14-year-old girl to death inside her friend’s apartment.
Columbus Police Chief Bill Martin says 20-year-old Demetrick Shepherd has confessed to killing Chelsea Porter.
The victim had reportedly been staying inside a friend's apartment to help her prepare for a birthday party when Shepherd broke into the home and stabbed her several times, causing her to bleed to death.
Police call the two acquaintances, but say he had a stronger connection with the girl's friend.
They believe Shepherd entered the apartment with the intent of stealing a car. He is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail without bond on a preliminary charge of murder.
