(BEDFORD) - Outgoing Lawrence County Clerk Julie Blackwell-Chase is asking county commissioners to purchase more voting machines.
Blackwell-Chase met with both the county commissioners and county council Tuesday saying it would cost the county nearly $150,000 to obtain 46 new MicroVote Infinity Voting machines. This would give each precinct in Lawrence County two voting machines.
The commissioners heard from Steve Shamo with MicroVote who said it would be possible to continue to use the new and old machines together but would be a bit more time consuming than with all MicroVote machines being used.
November's election will be Julie's Blackwell-Chase's last election as county clerk. She will assume her new duties as Bedford city clerk in January.
