(BEDFORD) - The Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department received some good news on Tuesday.
Attorney Brent Steele represented the local fire department at the Lawrence County Commissioners meeting asking for a transfer of property.
The county currently owns the area between the fire department and the Grissom Airport. Steele explained that the volunteer fire department could not apply for grants without owning the land.
The fire department group hopes to build an access road to the airport and add an airport crash truck to the fire trucks they now own.
The board approved the request and will proceed to transfer the deed to the Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department.
