(PARAGON) - The small town of Paragon may soon be without a police department.
Paragon Fire Chief Danny Dotson is asking the town board to consider eliminating the town marshal position and the police department, following the retirement of Town Marshal David Zoller.
Dotson says the town had to make budget cuts and the police department is "wasting money."
But, Zoller says the need is still there. He said a large fight in Paragon over Memorial Day weekend sent Morgan County sheriff's deputies to the scene because no Paragon officers were available.
