(NEW PEKIN) - Indiana Conservation Officers recovered the body of a drowning victim in Pine Hills Lake located in rural southeast Washington County.
15-year-old Ryan Chastain, of Salem, was swimming with relatives in Pine Hills Lake when they noticed him missing. After a short search, a cousin of the victim contacted the Washington County Sheriff Department.
Indiana Conservation Officers responded with watercraft and began searching for the missing teenager. SCUBA divers later found Chastain in about 20 feet of water.
Relatives stated that Chastain was attempting to swim across the lake when he began to complain of fatigue halfway across the lake.
