(UNDATED) - The state is offering tax credits in the form of the Neighborhood Assistance Program or NAP.
The tax credits allow Indiana residents the opportunity to support local organizations. Among the organizations selected to participate in the program is Success and Opportunity At Reading or SOAR! SOAR! is an adult literacy program which serves Lawrence, Martin, Orange and Washington counties.
In short, NAP allows half of all contributions made to be taken directly off an individual donor's Indiana income tax obligation. For example, if you owe the government $500 for state income taxes, donate $1,000 to SOAR!
NAP tax credits are provided by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority in an effort to build up needed community services across the state. Contact the local SOAR! office for more information.
