(UNDATED) - A heat advisory has been issued for today and Wednesday.
Officials at the Indianapolis National Weather Service say a strong upper level ridge of high pressure will bring partly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid to upper 90s along with high levels of humidity. This will result in the hottest and most humid weather of the summer.
The heat advisory will be in effect from noon Eastern Daylight Time today until 8:00PM Eastern Daylight Time this evening and also on Wednesday.
Some locations could see the 100 degree mark by tomorrow. Humid conditions in combination with the heat will produce dangerous heat index values of around 105 degrees during the afternoon and evening hours.
A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temps and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.
Weather officials say drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room. Stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
