(BEDFORD) - The Success and Opportunity At Reading program, known as “SOAR,” has been granted more than $11,000 in tax credits to offer to Hoosier donors by the 2007 Neighborhood Assistance Program.
SOAR must deliver these credits to donors by this coming January, however. The SOAR program offers adult literacy programs to Lawrence, Martin, Orange and Washington counties.
SOAR development director Frank Newkirk said if a person owes $500 in state income taxes, making a $1,000 donation to SOAR would eliminate that tax bill.
NAP tax credits are provided by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority.
