(BLOOMINGTON) - A 22-year-old pastor-in-training is facing criminal charges in Bloomington after allegedly trying to perform an exorcism on an autistic teenager.
Monroe County sheriff's officials say Eddie Uyesugi, of Paoli, persuaded a woman in his church her 14-year-old son had demons, not autism, and had her pull the boy out of a group home so he could do an exorcism.
Detective Brad Swain says Uyesugi allegedly beat the boy for several hours before giving up, and gagged him by sticking his fingers in the boy's mouth. When the boy vomited, police say Uyesugi claimed it was "the demons coming out."
