(BLOOMINGTON) - Investigators are examining a small aircraft crash that occurred late Wednesday afternoon.
The accident occurred about a mile south of the Monroe County Airport near Bloomington.
Police say a single engine plane crashed upside down in a cornfield. The pilot, Justin Boren, of Martinsville, was able to escape the crash. Boren was taken to Bloomington Hospital where he was treated and released.
Boren had apparently taken the aircraft on a test flight after routine maintenance. Boren noticed a malfunction with one of the instruments and the plane began to experience engine troubles. Boren was able to crawl out of a window after the crash.
The incident is under investigation with the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board to arrive at the scene sometime today.
