(BEDFORD) - UAW members are keeping a positive outlook on how things are working out for them, both locally and nationally.
Shannon Barger, who works at the plant, told WBIW News she is pleased with the generosity and support of not only Bedford residents, but local businesses.
She says she heard Pizza Hut brought out pizzas to the picketers, and the Hubler dealerships and Bedford Ford brought out plenty of ice for people to keep cool and have cold water.
Local 440 president Darrell Thimling told WBIW News things are still up in the air, but union officials are keeping everybody in Bedford up to date with frequent phone calls and keeping Thimling on call, "24/7."
UAW member Kevin Beasley says, nationwide and here in Bedford, the consensus is that money and job security are two of the biggest sticking points for the union negotiations, but said the most important thing is how things work out for the workers themselves.
