(BEDFORD) - A young Bedford boy was attacked by a St. Bernard last night.
According to a Lawrence County sheriff's report, 12-year-old Skylar Schofield rode his bike to a neighbor's house to visit a friend. When he left on his bike to go home, the dog behind his friends house, owned by Rick Chastain, jumped its electric fence and attacked Schofield.
Schofield was bitten on his left arm and dragged from his bike; the dog then bit him again on the left side.
Schofield was taken to Dunn Memorial Hospital and received 10 stitches on his wounds. The dog was taken to the humane society by animal control officials and quarantined. According to the report, the dog was not provoked by the young boy.
