(HUNTINGBURG) - An 18-year-old Huntingburg man is killed after launching his car off the roadway and hitting a tree.
Indiana state police say Dustin L. Kelley of Huntingburg was driving his Chevy on County Road 100 West just north of the Huntingburg Conservation Club when he reportedly crested a hill, ran off the west side of the road, overcorrected sending him off the east side of the roadway and became airborne.
Kelley's vehicle came to a rest after striking a tree. The Dubois County coroner's office pronounced Kelley dead at the scene.
State police say they want to remind drivers that, if they leave the roadway, not to panic and jerk the wheel back toward the road, but rather to steer gently back onto the pavement.
