(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County sheriffs have released the report on the major accident that had US-50 blocked yesterday morning.
According to the sheriff's report, 49-year-old Kathy Artman of Mitchell allegedly ran the red light heading southbound on SR-37 when the truck driven by 55-year-old Vernon Sergent, also of Mitchell, entered the intersection with a green light.
Artman's Chevy struck the side of Sergents pickup, causing the response that closed down US-50 at the intersection, as well as the left lanes of southbound 37.
Artman, and Sergent's passenger, 49-year-old Jay Sergent, were transported by ambulance to Dunn Memorial Hospital; Sergent was transported to Bedford Regional Medical Center.
Bedford police and Marion fire were called in to help with extracting the victims. Artman was given a blood test for intoxicants, the results are still pending.
