(BEDFORD) - Unemployment is going up in Lawrence County.
According to the Indiana Workforce Development Labor Market Review, as of August 2007, Lawrence County has the worst unemployment rate in the 8th Economic Growth Region, which includes Brown, Daviess, Greene, Martin, Monroe, Orange and Owen Counties.
Additionally, the City of Bedford has the 3rd worst unemployment of all the aforementioned counties' seats with 9.1%, being edged out only by Linton with 9.3% and Spencer with 10.8%.
Overall unemployment in Lawrence County stands at 6.4%, increasing 0.3% from July of this year, but still going down from August of last year. However, Lawrence County also has the 5th worst unemployment in the entire State of Indiana.
Average unemployment nationwide went down to 4.6%, but Indiana unemployment went up to 4.8%.
