(CRAWFORD COUNTY) - An elderly Birdseye man was killed after driving his Caprice east in the westbound lanes of Interstate 64 in Crawford County.
State police responded to a call of a full size Chevrolet going the wrong way on the interstate yesterday morning, and then got another call saying the vehicle had run headlong into a Mack truck.
72-year-old Stanley Atkins of Birdseye was pronounced dead at the scene by Crawford County coroners, state police say they do not know why Atkins was driving the wrong way on the interstate.
The driver of the semi, 36-year-old Harold Decker of Carrolton, Kentucky, was unscathed.
