(JACKSON COUNTY) - A classic muscle car caught fire and blocked all but one lane of Interstate 65 in Jackson County yesterday.
Late yesterday morning, troopers got a call of a dark green 1966 Dodge Charger fully engulfed in flames near the 52 mile marker of northbound 65.
Troopers say 41-year-old Craig Jones of Oxford, Michigan was driving north when he noticed a fire starting and pulled his charger to the emergency lane.
Troopers and a volunteer all tried putting the car out with fire extinguishers, but when the extinguishers ran dry, all they could do was wait for fire fighters to arrive.
Northbound 65 was shut down to one lane due to the thick smoke and fire.
Classic Chargers, depending on condition and equipment, can easily be worth more than $100,000.
