(ROCKPORT) - State police successfully ended an armed stand-off in Rockport, Indiana yesterday afternoon that involved a Cloverport, Kentucky man.
Police say 40-year-old William Rush was reported driving to Rockport to do harm to himself or a loved one. Police tried to make a traffic stop to confront Rush, when Rush allegedly led police on a short chase which concluded at 5th and Main Streets in Rockport.
Rush reportedly displayed a .357 revolver to officers, so police stepped back and set a perimeter around the area and began talking him down.
Negotiators from Tell City police, Warrick County sheriffs and state police ended the stand-off around 3 and a half hours later, when Rush tossed the revolver out of the vehicle.
Rush was taken to Spencer County jail and is charged with resisting arrest with a vehicle, being a felon in possession of a handgun, and violation of his parole from Kentucky.
