(NEW ALBANY) - Indiana conservation officers in New Albany are investigating an ATV accident that left one man with severe head injuries.
According to the report, 25-year-old Chad Small of Lanesville, Indiana was riding his 500cc Honda 4-wheeler on a mowed grass surface at his friend's property, and, when he tried to round a tree, lost control of the vehicle, and fell from the machine, causing it to roll on top of him and strike his head.
Fire department EMTs transported Small to Floyd County Memorial Hospital with a severe head laceration.
Conservation officers say had Small been wearing a helmet, he could have avoided the injury entirely.
