(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana State Police detectives from the Bloomington district have served a murder warrant from Monroe County Circuit Court for an Indianapolis native in a 2005 slaying.
28-year-old Benjamin Harris Steinberg is already behind bars, serving a sentence at the Westfield Correctional Facility near LaPorte.
Steinberg is now charged with the murder of William Brand in February of 2005. In the probable cause affidavit, investigators say Lonnie Griffin of Martinsville identifies Steinberg as the man who purchased an AR-15 assault rifle from him two weeks earlier.
Brand was driving on State Road 37, south of Bloomington, on February 8th, 2005 when a vehicle pulled up beside him and shots were fired into his car. He died from a gunshot wound of the head.
