(AUSTIN) - Indiana state police were tasked with extracting an armed man barricaded in his Austin home Friday evening.
Austin town police responded to a call of a domestic situation on Rural Street with shots fired. Shots were fired from inside the home of 58-year-old Eugene Wells. Up until 10:00PM Friday night, nobody was able to make contact with Wells.
At 10:05PM, state police made entry into the home, and found Wells dead.
The Scott County coroner's office says the preliminary cause of death is an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. However, the investigation continues.
