(BEDFORD) - Saturday was a dangerous day to be out on the roads in Lawrence County.
Including the fatal accident at the Farmers' Market in Bedford, Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies responded to 3 other accidents involving alcohol and injuries.
Shortly after 3:30 Saturday afternoon, deputies responded to a head-on accident on Tunnelton Road almost a quarter mile south of Murray Holt Road. Sheriff's reports allege 26-year-old Mandy Mills of Bedford was driving drunk when she crossed the centerline and struck the vehicle of 78-year-old Mary Lee of Bedford head-on.
Lee was transferred to Bedford Regional Medical Center by ambulance; Mills' blood-alcohol test returned a certified result of 0.13. Mills faces felony charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Then, before 9:30 Saturday night, Sheriff's reports say 40-year-old Kevin Hedrick of Bedford drove his girlfriend's vehicle off the road, going over an embankment. The report says Hedrick's girlfriend, 34-year-old Kristi Hicks, told deputies Hedrick was drunk.
The report says both individuals appeared drunk. Hedrick was charged with driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction, blood-alcohol test results are pending.
Finally, a little after 11:00pm Saturday night, 32-year-old Michael New of Rockford, Illinois was traveling westbound on Wesley Chapel Road when he crested a hill, missed a turn, left the road and hit a tree.
New reportedly walked away from the accident but was found seeking medical treatment at Bedford Regional Medical Center.
Deputies allege New had been drinking, blood-alcohol test results are currently pending.
