(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - The entire Indiana congressional delegation, including Congressmen Buyer and Hill and Senators Lugar and Bayh, has signed on to a letter sent to the acting Secretary of Agriculture, Chuck Conner, asking for federal aid for the 74 Indiana counties affected by this summer’s severe drought.
The drought devastated crop harvests this year since drought conditions began in early June and didn't let up until October 2nd.
Among the 74 counties included in the relief proposal are Lawrence, Monroe, Orange, Washington, Jackson and Brown.
The Farm Service Agency reported more than 30% of crops were lost in one or more of pasture, corn, soybean, wheat and hay crops.
